ANNIVERSARY NIGHT Monday night marked the first “birthday” of the local branch of the Order, and to celebrate s the occasion, j‘A social evening was held i til media jieJy A.ftor the usual fortnightly meeting, members and their friends being treated to a very enjoyable time ■spent in dancing and playing of various indoor games, during which a dainty supper was served under the supervision of the lady members.

Among the visitors jv’ere. members of the Whakatane, Rangitaiki and Taneatua branches of the. order.

M usic was. supplied by Mr He Dougall and the arrangements for indoor games' were capably handled by. officers of the order.

Bro. 0. D l . {Brown F.S. was the donor of a handsome “birthday” cakei to make the occasion most realistic and the extinguishing of the ‘lonesome candle and the customary cutting of the cake . were performed by Sisters Mcrrie and Henry in real birthday’ celebration fashion.

Opportunity was taken by Bro. Marks P.G.G.O. group officer of Group 19, to present to Bro. I. R. Brtdman P.G. the emblem of the Order, a handsome framed diploma, signifying his having passed through alt chairs of the Order and having proved a good Oddfellow, an honour winch mo'mey cannot buy. Bro. Bodnian suitably replied and the gay celebrations proceeded until a late hour.
