H.VVYKF.’S BAiY EXPJ3RLKNTK The excessive rains experienced in Hawke’s Bay during the past lew months have resulted in severe losses to swede crops caused by the bulbs rotting beneath the surface of tho sodden ground. In many instances the crops appear good on the surface and it' is only when tlie bulbs are inspected that the rotting process is noticed. Southern Hawke’s Bay farmers have, been among the heaviest losersin this respect. A large area was- devoted to the growing of this crop, (hiving the recent season, but the continued, wet conditions in the* ground in most cases have brought aliout cither a rotting or a failure of flic roots to develop satisfactorily. , .. .
