MEETING AT UTARA V The June meeting of the Otar a Institute was lie Id in the Otara Hail oil Tuesday, presided over by Mrs L • Gault. The meeting opened with the singing of the-Institute Song and the recital of the W omen’s Creed. ■ After the usual business had been dealt with, memebrs were reminded ol a play evening to be held on 24th. June. Several visitors and two new memberswere welcomed. /The Golden Thread was taken by Mrs,Gault, whose account of the difficulties of transport in Opotiki in tlic early days was most interesting. The Roll Call. “An Emergency Dish” brought many, original suggestions. Mrs Beattie of Woodlands then ably demonstrated the making of a dress-ing-table doll, and Mrs Gault gave a seasonable demonstration of an eggless cake, with samples of the finished product. A talk on the lives of Mozart and Mendelsohn by Mrs C. Black was much appreciated. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to these three ladies.

In the competitions, Miss Harrison, was first for the best peggy square, with Miss Lambert second ; .Mrs Gault was first lor the vase for effect, with M’iss Lowe second.
