DENTAL CLINIC FEES

LOAVES! IN DOAHNION CLAIM FOR GISBORNE OPOTIKI FEES LOWER It was claimed at a recent meeting of the Gisborne Dental Clinic that- the tees charged in Gisborne were the lowest in rsew Zealand. No sucli claim is-made for Opotnd, but inquiiies by the “News'/ show that the fee in Opotiki is (id less per child than J in Gisborne.

The Gisborne claim was made when the question of outstanding accounts came up tor consideration.

The secretary. Air D. AI. Grade, reported, that' a committee had compared tlie records of the clinic with the different school rolls, and had iound that £29 was outstanding in lees. They iiatl concluded that the children tor whom lees were owing liad received treatment at the clinic and it has been ascertained that the parents were an a position to pay. Accounts had been sent to all concerned, but there was still £.12 outstauding.

The speaker took strong exception to the attitude ol the parents, pointing out that the fee ot 3s per year was the smallest lor any clinic iu New Zealand, and it way a small sum to pay for the care of a child’s teeth. He urged that strong action should be,, taken.

On the motion of the chairman, Mr A. F. Langridge, it was agreed to notify the parents that if the fees were , not paid, the children would be struck off the roll of the clinic.
