TOURNAMENT ARRANGEMENTS, Uj ' - 4 GYALNASIUAI REQUIRED / ' f tj) ; The committee of the Opotiki Boxing Association met at. Air -Tint Hickey’s premises/ last night. Present-: Messrs C- Tabb (chairman), J. Alansell, A. Alder, R. Black, G. Lysaght, T. N. Hill (treasurer), and-T/ Hickey (secretary). A resolution was passed instructing' the secretary to write to the Alinister of Defence, through Air Hultquist, requesting the use of the Drill Hall as a gymnasium.' The present training quarters in the band room are. entirely inadequate and training has been considerably hampered, especially in view of the large number of boys offering. Regret was expressed that such a large number of young men, anxious to keep themselves in good physical condition, and keen to acquire a knowledge of the sport of boxing, were unable to train suitably because of the inadequacy of the present quarters. a - ' Air C. Rix very kindly donated a fine set of boxing gloves to the association. The secretary was instructed to write him thanking him for his generous donation. It was unanimously decided that the Association stage its first tournament on AVednesday, July 20th., in the Regent Theatre. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries for contestants from outside centres and to arrange a programme. The season’s subscription for lady, members was fixed at '3s. Other business was dealt with and the meeting closed with thanks to the chair.
