General

It was decided to hold two tournaments during the season and if the support is good that an additional tournament be staged.

Subscription After considerable discussion it was decided to fkx the annual subscription at 12/6. The president, secretary, and treasurer were authorised to operate on the bank account.

Training Nights.—The nights for training were fixed for Alonday and Thursday, with full facilities for training by the High School hoys. f , ./ THE ANNUAL REPORT During the past season two tournaments were held and they proved successful. The boxing was of excellent standard,.; the Association again aclopting the policy of importing goodclass boxers from other centres. The resultant is obvious. Local talent must progress.

Public support by attendance was not as good as in past seasons and it is to be sincerely hoped that patronage this coining year will be much improved. Membership was easily oil a par with last year and members are to be complimented on remaining financial and staunch followers of the sport. r

A team of boxers, under the Association, visited Te Karaka early last season and gave a good account, of themselves, both in and out of the ling. We wish to express our appreciation of the manner in which the Waikohu (Association treated our

boys. " ' ~ ' ' ' •• Again* last year the band room was used as training quarters for the boys. Being too small, facilities for training are very limited. It is to be hoped, if possible, that the Association can obtain more suitable training quarters for the coming year. It is pleasing to record that the High School Boxing Class was carried on again during the winter months under those capable mentors, Mfessrs B. and V. Mulhern. Several promising boys have come on through their untiring efforts and they arc to be heartily complimented. t

The usual annual High School Tournament was staged during the winter and proved most successful and popular. The association’s equipment is in gcod order and condition and is stored in the band room. The Association should consider obtaining a, more reliable and suitable place for the storing of the equipment. Special pleasurable mention must be made of the Association’s honorary "trainer, .Mr B. Mulhern, and his assistant, Mr V. Mulhern, lor their usual splendid efforts during the season. It is to sincerely hoped that their valued services will again be offering this year.

Several other young men gave much time and care in the Association’s interests and they must be deservedlythanked.

In conclusion thanks go to the untiring efforts of a good band of committeemen, to the honorary surgeons, Drs Budd, B rass and Candy: to the referee, Mr J. O’Sullivan jnr., , the judges, Messrs G. Murray and J. O’Sullivan senr., and to the many patrons of boxing during the last season.
