Engineer-Manager’s Repop> ? , The engineer-manager, MrT,. ?ix Dicker, presented tire following report for the month of April:— Line Erection 9 route chains of 400 volt on 11000 lines and 4 .route chains of 11000 volt line and 1 sub structure dismantled. Mlanawalie : 5 route miles of line completed. Also hush felling on the route of the line is well in hand. Consumers’ Service Lines: 8 new service lines completed totalling 11.84 route chains of line. Line Maintenance: Trees cut on Waimana. feeder, Ohijva branch, and Otakiri branch lines. During the month several insulators' failed and were replaced, ltangitaiki feeder Kek man switch failed to function and had to be repaired. The cause -of numerous interruptions on Taneatua Feeder was traced' to a fault in the relay gear controlling t-lie feeder switch at Edgecombe Sub. This gear was overhauled and no further trouble has been experienced on this section. Later in the month' similar trouble occurred on the Opotiki feeder due to the same type of equipment and has since been repaired. One 3 it. steel rail replaced due to the consumer jelling- a tree across his service line. Consumers Connected to 30tli. April 1938 (during the past month). — Ranges 5 k.w. and over, 2 new connections, 1 disconnection, 3 reconnections, 551 total to date, 516 corresponding period 1937. Ranges 2 k.w. up to 5 k.w., 1,0, 0, 70, '63. Total ranges, 3,1, 3, 621, 579. Motors (excluding milking and bulk supply), 0, 0,0, 144, 121. Shops and offices, 0, o’ 3,’228, 221. Houses, 4, 14, 9, 1582, 1490. Pumps, 3, 8. ’3, 388, 352. Dairywater heaters 0,3, 2, 535, 534. Domestic water heaters, 1,1, 2, 611, 569. Total water heaters, I_, 4,4, 1146, 1,103. Milking plants, 6,2, 2, 628, 615. Separator motors. 1,0, 0, 343, 324. Total consumers. 3. 11, 11, 1812, 1738. Total connected load k.w., 8193 k.w., 7815 k.w. Maximum peak load 1575 k.w. 1650 k.v.a., 1677 k.w. 1692 k.v.a.-Per cent power cost to revenue, ’31.9 per cent.. 31.4 per cent. "'Connected load in k.w. 7769 k.w., 8240 lc.w. P.W.D. Supply Shut-downs for the above month total five amounting to--5 hours 59 minutes. Of the above number one of 2 hrs. 15 minutes was by arrangement, and one of 2 lirs.. 46 minutes was the result of line failure on the P.W.D. system.
Supply to Whakatane Borough : Latest advice just to hand indicatesdelivery of the special switch gear probably this week and that tlie installation work will commence immediately.
