BUTTER PRIZES.
THAMES VALLEY TO THE
FRONT.
Considerable interest was taken in the butter classes at the Winter Show in Auckland this week, and it is pleasing to note that Thames Valley butter was once more well represented, and that several prizes were awarded to the local company. In the Weddell Cup competition first prize fell to Cambridge with 93 points, Thames Valley being second with 92*84 points. There were a very large number of competitors in this class, and the position of the local company in securing second award (only a fraction of a point behind the winner) is very satisfactory. In the class for best two boxes of export butter there were 25 entries, and Thames Valley obtained first prize, and in a class for one box of export butter (open only to factories in the Auckland province) Thames Valley was fourth. There was keen competition for the championship prize, this being decided by the aggregate points in all classes. Matakana was first with 36779 points, and Thames Valley was •econd with 367*34 points.
We congratulate the local Dairying Company and its manager (Mr W. C. Dixon) and his staff on the success obtained. Once more it has been clearly demonstrated that the local company is producing a first-class article that can successfully compete with the product from any other district, showing that the of manufacture adopted must \7\ thoroughly up-to-date.
