DROWNED MAN IDENTIFIED.

Waihi, April 29.
The man found in the Thames River near Kopu has been identified as John Brown, an elderly resident of Waihi, who was engaged in various borough works. He left here to attend the Auckland races, going via Kopu. Deceased was about to apply for the old age pension. He was short-sighted, and it is consideied that he fell off the boat on the wharf, and was not noticed. He has a married son residing here. The body was identified by his daughter-in-law by the clothing.
