BOWLING.

END OF SEASON AT PAEROA.

The bowling season at Paeroa concluded on Saturday afternoon as it is in* tended to top-dress the green this week so as to have it ready for play early next season. v The sealed handicap competition for a trophy presented by the president (Mr G. P. de Castro) was concluded on Saturday afternoon. The winners of the sections were McWatters, Hewitt, and Clews, but McWatters retiring, left Hewitt and Clews to fight out the finish. The game was a very interesting one, both men playing well. Hewitt established a big lead at the beginning of the game, but after the eleventh head x Clews began to play in splendid form, and at the end of the game Clews had won by 21 points to 19. The full rink cpmpetition was also concluded on Saturday, but owing to some of the players being absent the I teams only consisted of three men aside. In the A. section the teams skipped by McWatters and Taylor had tied, and it was decided that they play seven heads

to decide the section. In the absence of Taylor, his place as skip was taken by Frogley, the other members of his team being Martyn and Allan. McWatters' assistants were Harris and Nicholas. An interesting game resulted

in a win for McWatters' team by one point. Thd final was played between ■■ McWatters'and Towers' teams, the men associated with the latter being Coote and H. Smith. The game was splendidly contested, the scores being level on the seventh, ninth, twelfth, sixteenth, and twentieth heads. On the last head

Towers was lying two, until McWatters

played his last bowl and won the game and the competition, the scores being— McWatters 15, Towers 14.

'The final of- the club championship between McWatters senr. and junr. will be played early next season.

Paeroa bowlers will pay a visit to Waikino next Saturday to play the final inter-club match of the season.
