HOLIDAY PETROL
HOURS OF SERVICE DECISION OF COMMITTEE The hours that petrol resellers in Dunedin will observe during the Christmas and New Year holidays were decided yesterday. The chairman of the Petrol Committee of the Otago branch of the New Zealand Retail Motor Trade Federation told the Daily Times that on Christmas Eve petrol would be sold between the hours of 7.30 a.m. and 11 p.m., but no premises would be open on Christmas Day. On Boxing Day the hours would be from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. On New Year’s Eve resellers would open between 7.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. and the following day from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Mr Scobie explained that resellers’ premises were closed on Saturdays and Sundays, and petrol could only be obtained in cases of extreme emergency. He said he was of the opinion that supplies would be sufficient for . the holiday period provided motorists cooperated and the “ spirit of the rationing” was not forgotten.
