BIG TASK

BOWLERS* TEAROOM SERVICE TOURNAMENT ARRANGEMENTS Few bowlers, much less members of the general public can have any conception of the detail work involved in the successful running of a New Zealand ’ championship tournament. Catering alone is a substantial problem. At a recent meeting of the catering committee of the New Zealand Bowling Association, figures were produced to show that during the course of the tournament approximately 35,000 cups of tea will be served to bowlers and visitors to the greens. During the fours competition, the total number of morning andi afternoon teas to be supplied will be over 5000 a day, the cost for this event being about £IBO a day. The secretary of the New Zealand Bowling Association, Mr R. S. M. Sinclair, said yesterday that fortunately the clubs attached to the Dunedin Bowling Centre had wholeheartedly co-operated with the catering committee in its endeavour to provide , this vast tearoom service, and each club was arranging to act as caterers for the association on its own green. The fact that the tournament would commence immediately after the usual Christmas holidays made it no easy matter for the catering committee or the clubs, Mr Sinclair said, but it was certain that no player would be asked to go without his usual cup of tea.
