Partial Merger Of Three Services Projected in Britain

Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. The Minister of War, Mr Emanuel Shinwell, disclosed the intention to merge part of the navy, army and air force under one c.ommand. Details of the project could not be given until a White Paper was published. The Minister stated later in an interview with the Daily Exprcs: “The best way to reduce man-power in the forces is to combine the services. ~ That is the idea we are working on.” Mr Shinwell added that the Government hoped that the forces by next March would be reduced by about 700,000.
