BIG FOUR IN LONDON <? MOVE BY MR MOLOTOV AWAITED Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 8. Mr Bevin, M. Bidault and Mr Marshall during the week-end have pondered the situation facing the Foreign Ministers’ conference, which, in its third week, faces a threat of frustration, says Reuter's diplomatic correspondent. The three Western delegates are almost at a loss to know what is at the back of Mr Molotov's mind and can only wait for him to show his hand more plainly. The correspondent added that some observers talk of the conference tapering off without positive results, but the consequences of failure at what is probably the most important conference in the history of the world are too serious for any delegate yet to contemplate the fateful step of bringing the conference to a close.
The diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Mail said that every day Europe remains in chaos the cost of aid under the Marshall Plan must increase. The Russians are possibly counting on this, the correspondent added. It was reported in the United states’ delegation last night that Mr Marshall was planning to go home next week-end.
