CHORAL CONTEST

CENTENNIAL COMPETITIONS FESTIVAL LARGE PRIZES OFFERED A £IOO choral contest, which is expected to attract choirs of 40 to 50 mixed voices from all parts of New Zealand, will be a feature of the Dunedin Competition Society’s centennial festival in September, 1948, in addition to the final contest to discover New Zealand’s candidate for the Melba bequest contest in Australia in 1949. The society has decided to offer prizes of £IOO, £3O, and £lO for the choirs’ contest and £75 —a sum designed to cover the winner's costs of competing in Australia —for the Melba contest.
