HARD-WORKING BRITONS SHIPBUILDING AND MOTOR EXPORT RECORDS . N.Z.P.A. Special Correspondent Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, Dec, 3. Mr Jack Jones, joint parliamentary secretary to the Ministry of Supply, who is touring all industrial areas inspecting the progress of the production drive said at Birmingham: “ This country does not know enough about itself. ' There is far too much talk of what we are not and not a quarter enough of what we are doing Our fellows are working very hard. There are odd spots where there are occasional passengers, and it is up to their comrades to get them working. Only work will save this country.” Figures released this week reveai that new merchant shipping tonnage under construction in Britain during October set yet another record when it reached 1,944.000 tons gross, nearly 30,000 tons more than the. preyious month. October was also a record month for motor vehicle exports. British factories sent 17,564 cars and 5021 commercial vehicles overseas.
