WIN FOR BOS MURPHY PETERSEN KNOCKED OUT Rec. 10 p.m. LONDON, Dec. 1. The former welter-weight champii

of New Zealand, Bos Murphy, in 1 eight-round contest at the Albert Hi knocked out the Jamaican, Roy Pete, sen, in the seventh round.

Murphy, in his first fight in England, injured his right hand in the opening round, and thereafter used only his left.

In the second round Murphy took a count of three from a vicious left hook, but, boxing superbly, kept Petersen at bay with his left for round after round. The New Zealander increased the pressure in the sixth and seventh rounds, and knocked the Jamaican out with a perfectly-timed left hook. The Daily Express boxing writer says that the nromotor, Jack Solomons, is so pleased with Murphy’s English debut that he is planning to match him against Vince Hawkins for the British Empire Middle-weight Championship. All critics praise Murphy’s performance. The Daily Mail says he not only outboxed Petersen but knocked him out with the best left hook this season.
