BRITAIN’S FOOD
LESS THAN ON CONTINENT P.A AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. The food and agricultural conference at Geneva had been a success and an agreement had been reached on the disposal of surpluses which, of course, suited New Zealand, as a predominantly food-producing country, said the general secretary of the Federated Farmers of New Zealand, Mr A. P. O’Shea, who returned by air to-day. The conference was marked by co-operation and friendliness. The British people had less food than those of Continental countries, Mr O’Shea added. Everything should be done to get food to Britain. The British farmers were “ tops ” m grass production and management. The dispossessing of uneconomic farmers had not started, as the Agricultural Act was not “tied up” yet. He thought dispossession more a threat to force economic farming than a reality.
