FACTORY PRODUCTION IN DOMINION p.A. GREYMOUTH, Dec. 1. “I have just ascertained from the Government Statistician the latest statistics of factory production, which are now released for the first time, said the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser. “The total value of the output for 1945-46 was £195,182,000, which is the highest on record. It represents an increase of £5,347,000 over the previous year and £19,495,000 over the 1943-44 figure of £175,687,000. By comparison, the total value of factory production in 1934-5 was £79,000,000. Under the Labour Government the value of factory production had been multiplied by more than two and R’hRU times, said Mr Fraser, and over the same period the number of factory workers had increased from 79,358 to 128,467.
