RATIONING OF WOOL AND FLANNEL SYSTEM TO CONTINUE * In order to ensure that those who need it most will obtain supplies of white wool and white flannel, the rationing of these commodities will be Continued on a voluntary basis by retailers. Representations made to the Retailers’ Federation by the Plunket Society have resulted in the decision to continue the present system • of rationing until the goods are in greater supply. “It is hoped that the public will appreciate the ppsition and make the life of the girls on the wool counters a little easier by refraining from demanding white baby wool for knitting sweaters and such things,” commented the secretary of . the Otago Retailers’ Association, Mr W. P. Wellington, last night. He said ‘ that' the arrangement had been made voluntarily, and with Government approval, solely in order to help mothers and expectant mothers. When expectant mothers purchase white wool or flannel the quantity, together with the date and the retailer's name, is stamped on the back of the ration book. This system will. be. continued until the supply position improves. ■
