Satterthwaite have returned to Dunedin after a short business trip to Australia. Mr R. Walls, M.P., left yesterday morning to investigate the removal of kauri Umber from the Waipoua Forest. He will be accompanied on his inspection by members of the House of Representative? Lands Committee, of which he is chairman, and representatives •of the Forest Preservation Society. Mr A. Steel was appointed deputy chairman of the Otago Hospital Board ai its meeting last night. The chairman Dr A. S. Moody, remarked that this was the first occasion such an appointment had been made. Tributes to the work of the late Di Russell Ritchie were paid by the chairman, Dr A. S. Moody, at the meeting of the Otago Hospital Board last night; Dr Moodv referred with regret to the death of Dr Ritchie, and said that his work would be carried on by the hosts ot students he had taught and trained. A motion of sympathy was carried.
