Jottings Beethoven, who is now 18 years old, is in work again. • Nominations for the New Brighton meeting are due on Tuesday. Gore Owner’s Winnings The Gore owner, Mr L. L. Abernethy, is eighth on the list of winning owners so far this season with £2505. Among the Favourites King's Messenger went 4min 26 l-ssec from a 4min 44sec mark to win the Visir tors’ Handicap at Hutt Park last Saturday and that form entitles hint to be among the favourites in the Belmont Handicap to-day. Timaru Stakes The Timaru Club is offering £2900 in stakes for its meeting in January Te principal event, the John Hole Memorial Handicap, will have a stake of £750 and will be open to horses assessed at 4min 38sec or faster. At Hutt Park Chief Council, who is engaged in the Discovery Handicap at Hutt Park to-day, is a four-year-old gelding by Josedale Grattan from Cardeau and is trained at Claudelands by R. Dunn. Change of Stables Belle Potts, who is to join A. Holmes’s stable, is a six-year-old mare by Jack Potts from, Queen Author, by Author Dillon from Indian Child, by Harold Rothschild from Roaneke, a mare tracing back to Berlin Abdallah. She is engaged at Hutt Park to-day. Nominated for Tapanui Coliseum, who has been nominated for the Tapanui meeting, Is a four-year-old gelding by Dillon Hall from Nerlihy. Last season he was started four times and a., the Birchwood meeting he cleared out from the Wallace Trot field to win by a dozen lengths. Quite Sure Gelding Belshazzar, who was recently sent from Southland to C. R. Berkett’s stable, is a six-year-old gelding by Quite Sure from Mishap, a half-sister to Nelson’s Victory, Carver Doone, Dan McGrew, and Dame Fortune, the dam of Jason's Quest. Brackets The following horses will be bracketed on the totalisator at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting to-day .'—Discovery Handicap: Chief Council and Judge Volo, Globe Son and Liliaceae, Medbury and Loyal Guest, Max Grattan, Loyal Grace and Play Boy; Wellington Handicap: Checkmate and Limerick Pride, Lone Raider and Bonnie Jack; H. J. Palmer Memorial Handicap: Quite Right and Endowed; Spring Handicap: Lone Raider and Bonnie Jack, Checkmate and Limerick Pride, Logan Rey and Wade Lane. Hutt Bark Divisions Unless withdrawals reduce the number of horses on the scratch mark to the safety limit, the Discovery Handicap will be run in divisions at the Wellington Trotting Club’s meeting to-day. The following is the draw:—First division: Best Globe, Chief Council, Gallian, Globe Son, Golden Sheaf, Grey Streak, King Teddy, Loriot, Max Grattan, Medbury, Romany Lass, Spierette West Point, Play Boy, Gaelic King.
