Banshee looks the most likely to upset calculations in the Oaks to-day. The two-year-old colt Sir Abbot has been turned out for a spell. Good Barrier Position Balkis has drawn a fairly good marble in the Pioneer Handicap and should race prominently again. Last Saturday she drew the extreme outside. Related to Irish Note Blank Cheque, a candidate for the Seymour Handicap, is a half-brother by Salmagundi to .Irish Note. Dunedin-owned Galloper Coral Arc has been a consistent performer, but may be in need of a race. He galloped well on Tuesday morning and will be among the favourites to-day. Sister to Concrete Taradale, the four-year-old sister to Concrete, had three unplaced starts last season, but showed promise. She is engaged at Tapanui and she can be expected to show improvement Not Yet Eligible Some of the horses nominated for the Auckland Cup are not yet eligible to start. A condition of the race is that acceptors must have won a stake of £SOO or more. Cup Investments The investments on this year's New Zealand Cup were £28,219, compared with £32,487 last November. The pools on the Stewards’ totalled £19,882 10s, compared with £26,772, and on the Riccarton Handicap, the other principal betting race, the turnover was £22,176 10s; last year, £25,325. Disqualified A cable message from Brisbane states that the Australian nine-furlong record holder, Felt Force, its part owner, D. P. McCathy, its trainer, Alan Williams, and jockey, N. Wilson, have been disqualified for 12 months by the Queensland Turf Club stewards. The decision followed an inquiry into the horse's win at Doomben on Saturday after running unplaced at Eagle Farm on November 8. Colonial-bred Sires Horses got by Colonial-bred sires had a good innings on the first day of the Cup meeting. The Defaulter mare Fading Light won the Middleton Hurdles and then the Sir Beau filly Balkis took the Spring Nursery at long odds. The blue riband classic then went to the Beau Vite colt Liebestraum, while the Nightly mare Fine Night won the Apprentices’ Handicap The home-bred sires completed a notable triumph with their fifth successive vietory in the New Zealand Cup, the first two placings going to Beau le Havre (by Beau Repaire) and Royal Tan (by Royal Chief).
