BOWLING RESULTS The annual bowling match between Dunback and Palmerston was played yesterday evening for the Matheson Rose Bowl. Dunback (Lindsay, Wilson, Murphy and E. McLew) 18 defeated Palmerston (Brown, Forrest, McGregor and Low) 17. In the Galloway Cup, Palmerston (Kitchin and Wolstenholme) 33 defeated Dunback (W. McLew and Mackay) 15. BOROUGH COUNCIL At the first meeting of the newlyelected Borough Council Dr T. P. Thomas was installed as Mayor. Other appointments were:—Deputy Mayor, Cr G. Ross; Finance Committee —Crs Hopkins (chairman), McGregor and Clearwater; Works —Crs McCabe (chairman), Logie, Spillane and Clearwater; Water and Health, Crs Ross (chairman), Bennie and Spillane; Reserves —Crs .Spillant (chairman), McCabe and Andrew; Town Hall—Crs Logie (chairman), McGregor and Bennie; Library—Crs McGregor (chairman), Hopkins. Spillane, Bennie and Logie. A social was held rfter the meeting, at which local business men conveyed good wishes for the new council.
