A Win Overdue A win for Ace of .Diamonds is well overdue. Last Saturday, at Hutt Park, he lost his chance by beginning very slowly. He looks well. Broke at Vital Stage Kildonnin made a smart begining in the Metropolitan Handicap at Hutt Park last Saturday, but lost his chance by breaking at a vital stage of the race. Racing Consistently Communique’s third placing in the Hutt Park Handicap was a good performance, as he did not get the best of the running. T. H. Gunning has worked a big improvement in the Grattan Loyal gelding. Darkie Grattan Dead The death has occurred of Darkle Grattan, the cause being peritonitis. A promising sort by Grattan Loyal, she was got from Superb, by Erin’s King from Volo, by Advocate from Fanny Palm, by Mount Palm from Fanny, by Emmerson. Programme for Forbury Because the interdominion championships wlll be held just after the Forbury Park Club's Cup meeting, the committee of the local club, realising that most of the Cup class horses will be away at Auckland, has made the class for its Cup slower than it would otherwise have been. The programme is, however, an attractive one, with stakes amounting to £12,500. and the response from owners and trainers should be a satisfactory one when nominations are taken on January 8. The class for the Cup will be 4min 29sec, and the stake will be £I4OO, including a cup valued at £IOO. The principal race on the second day will be for the same class, with a stake of £I2OO, The sprint each day will carry a stake of £llOO, the class being 3min lsec (equivalent to 2min 45sec for a mile and a-quarter), and the improving pacers will be catered for with classes ranging from 3min 33sec for a mile and a-half to 3min ssec for 11 furlongs. The class for the fast trotters’ race each day will be 3min 46sec (13 furlongs), with stakes of £BOO. A stake of £4OO will be given each day for the slower class trotters, and no stake will be worth less than £4OO. The Centennial Cup will be run at the club’s winter meeting.
