DEEP SYMPATHY

PUBLIC EXPRESSIONS The Mayor, Mr Cameron, sent the following message of sympathy to the Mayor of Christchurch, Mr E. H. Andrews, yesterday:—■“ Please convey the sincere sympathy of the citizens of Dunedin to all relatives who have suffered bereavement caused by the tragic fire, and also their best wishes for the recovery of those who were injured. The Mayor and Mayoress of Port Chalmers, on behalf of the Port Chalmers people, sent a telegram expressing deep regret at the news which had shocked the whole of New Zealand. Particular sympathy was expressed with those who had suffered bereavement. The Mayor of Green Island, Mr James Boomer, also sent a telegram to the Mayor of Christchurch, expressing sympathy with the relatives of those who lost their lives in the fire.
