RICCARTON TRACK WORK LOVEMORN’S SMART SPRINT Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 18. The outside of the course was in good order for the work at Riccarton this morning, but there was a cold wind, which retarded the horses in the run home. Palm Bearer and Royal Tan were mates over a mile and a-quarter, while Falconbridge began a few lengths behind them. Palm Bearer drew out at * the end to beat Royal Tan by three lengths, with Falconbridge four lengths further back. The last mile was done at an even pace ir. lmin 45 3-ssec.

Nightchtld and Miss Medley started off at the mile and a-quarter, Lady Welbeck joining in for the last mile. Nightchild beat Lady Welbeck by nearly a length, with Miss Medley tailing off. The last mile was run in lmin 45sec.

Good Nine by Kartikeya

Kartlkeya beat Magnaform by a head, with Revolte a length back, at the end of nine furlongs, the last mile in lmin 44 2-ssec. Renowned and Distinction did useful work over the same ground, the last five furlongs in lmin 6 2-ssec.

Sweet Nymph was three lengths in front of Excellency at the end of a mile in lmin 44 4-ssec, the first half in 51 4-ssec. Rebel Maid beat Pimlico in lmin 47sec, while Glen Cona took lmin 49sec General Argosy, from a slow start, registered lmin 48 2-ssec, the last half in 52 4-ssec. Lexia joined in for the last six furlongs, and was going easily. Eeechwood was a neck in front of Altruist over seven furlongs in lmin 31 2- which Indian Dawn equalled, while Palomino and Authentic did lmin .31 3- Ballochbuie was a head in front of Double Cross in lmin 32 l-ssec. Stately Lady beat Fort Silver and Sorry in similar time, which Broie and Morning Watch equalled later. Invest was too good for responsive in lmin 33 2-ssec: Newspaper headed Soon in lmin 34 l-ssec, while Primitive and Detract took lmin 34 3-ssec.

Flying Orders showed great dash to run six furlongs in lmin 15 3-ssec, the first two in 24 2-ssec.

Le Sonnet ran five furlongs in lmin ssec. Banshee going easily in lmin 6 4-ssec. Lcvemorn was outstanding over half a mile in 49sec. Robin Redbreast and Trident took 50 l-ssec, which Card Money equalled to beat Cipher by three lengths Good Shot gave Rose Leigh a start and a beating in 51 2-ssec, while Deep Harmony was two lengths in front of Faithful Pal in similar time.

Blue Trout in Form

A few horses did their work on the plough. Beau Le Havre covered two rounds, with a sprint home. Blue Trout ran five furlongs smartly in lmin 2 l-sseec, the first two in 23 4-ssec. Howe strode over nine furlongs, the last mile in lmin 47 4-ssec, and the last half mile in 52 4-ssec.

Wane and Al-Sirat were schooled over six hurdles, Sir Saladin accompanying them over the first four. They all jumped well. Several Southland trainers were on hand with their horses, having arrived yesterday. They were: F. W. Ellis, Eriskay and Salmon Spear; T. E. Pankhurst. Beaugard Wantwood and Spare Part; R. McLellan, Signal Officer. Aganev and Pageantry; J. Thistleton, Desert Girl. The last-named mare is under a cloud, having received injuries to a leg on the float while travelling from Riverton to Invercargill.
