Benefits Now Available

A letter was received from the Department of Health at the meeting of the Waitaki Hospital Board yesterday that benefits for hearing aids under the Social Security Act would be available on and after November 1.

The secretary, Mr W. M. Richardson, reported that applications would have to be forwarded to Dunedin from the board. The board would pay for the aid and collect a refund from the department A number of inquiries had been received, and the public could make the necessary application through the board for an appointment at Dunedin, the board to advise the applicants when they could visit Dunedin for an examination.
