WAITAKI HOSPITAL
Monthly Meeting of Board
Mr James Rodman was in the chair at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Hospital Board yesterday morning. The Waipiata Sanatorium Committee advised that three patients had been admitted and one discharged, and recommended two further patients admission. The Department of Health advised that the nurses’ post-graduate course had been increased from seven to eight months, and that the increases in the amounts of bursaries had been approved. The Wellington Aero Club advised that at present it was operating an aircraft for ambulance work, which was capable cf carrying three passengers or one stretcher case and an attendant. The normal charge was £8 per flying hour. The Hospital Boards' Association advised that social security benefits payable to inmates of institutions had been increased to £3 5s to beneficiaries and £8 10s per month to hospital boards as from October 1. Sister L. M. Stowell wrote conveying appreciation to the board for granting a bursary to enable her to the post-graduate course at Wellington. The resignations of Staff Nurse M. I. Fraser, Sisters Mills and D. G. Clark, and Nurses V. M. Sullivan and D. M. Humphrey were received. The following institution reports were received: —Public Hospital: Patients at beginning of month, 109; admitted during month* 175; discharged during month, 173; remaining, 104. Maternity Annexe: 18, 39, 42, 15. Kutow Maternity Annexe; 1,2, 1, 3. Victoria Home. 20, 4,3, 20. The district nurse reported she had received four new cases, dischargea four from treatment, attended 18, and had paid 221 visits.
