Although light rain fell this morning, the weather cleared this afternoon and the prospects are for a fine day and a fast track for the Southland Racing Club’s spring meeting to-morrow. The fields are well balanced and represent good class with several New Zealand Cup and Stewards’ Handicap horses down to make their final appearance. Pensacola is expected to contest the Southland Handicap in preference to the sprint race. Sir Raimond’s mission will be the Stewart Island Handicap. Fernbrook Lad is ineligible for the Waverley Trot.
