VARIETY OF KNITTED GOODS COMFORTS FOR THE SERVICES FIRST YEAR’S RESPONSE (Per United Press Association) WELLINGTON, Oct. 7. The way the women and girls of New’ Zealand are helping in the national patriotic effort is illustrated in the returns of knitted goods supplied in the first vear of operation of the National Patriotic Fund Board from the boards store in Wellington. The greatest total is represented by Balaclavas, of which 31.426 have been dealt with by the store. Of these, 11,256 have been consigned overseas to the board’s commissioner. 4475 Lave gone to the Navy Department. 1388 to the Air Force Relations Organisation. 1101 to the Navy League, and 307 to the Army Department, leaving 11.799 in stock. . , . ~ , Great work has also been done in the making and packing of hussifs or sewing kits. Pullovers totalling 219 have been supplied, mainly to the Navy League and the Air Force Relations. The remaining item on the list is skull caps, of which 105 have been supplied, almost entirely to the Navy League,
