STREET COLLECTING

TO THE EDITOR

Sir, —iMay I reply, both as a collector and as a giver, to the letter of “ Make It Easier” with regard to street collecting. The collector standing dumb does not appeal to me, and I have somehow a dislike to box rattling. ,1 have always made a rule to give to the first collector who asked me, and have told that one why. with the object of encouraging him or her, to keep asking. Surely what is worth having is worth asking for, although. I admit, this may be trying for the collector. I trust that collectors will ask for donations. —I am, etc., Roslyn, Sept. 29/ Please Ask.
