RIPPONVALE PUBLIC HALL
TO THE EDITOR
Sir, —Close on two years ago, thri residents of Ripponvale, Cromwell, and Bannockburn were canvassed for cash and donations of goods, etc., for sale. The funds thus obtained arid the proceeds of side shows held at Wanaka and Queenstown were to be used to finance the building of a public hall in the Ripponvale area. No site for the hall was available, owing to the land tenure. A large sum was raised, out of which £IOO has been applied to Patriotic purposes. With this disposal of this fund. I agree, but what of the balance? Are the subscribers not entitled to see a balance sheet so that they may know the present position of the funds while they entertain the hope that at the conclusimi of the war they may see the foundation stone well and truly laid?—l am, etc.', Cromwell, Sept. 29. . ■ In the Dark.
