KILLED BY TRAIN (Per United Press Association) PALMERSTON N„ Sept. 29. A Maori named George Tongariro, aged 45, married, was killed by a train one mile and a-half south of Kopularoa on Saturday night. It is thought Tongariro. who was on his way home from the races at Foxton. sat down on the rails and fell asleep. INJURIES TO BACK Apparently the victim of a " hit and run " motorist, William Smith, a young man. who lives at 283 Oxford street, was admitted to the Hospital at 5.30 p.m. on Saturday with abrasions on his back and a lacerated ear. He was picked up in Stone street by a passing motorist.
