LOCAL RIDERS FILL PLACES FASTEST TIME TO MORLAND The Green Island Cycling Club held the South Island 50-mile Professional Championship on Saturday in fine, but windy, weather A field of 26 riders took part, including the best riders from all parts of the South Island. The local riders performed well, filling the first six places. D. Morland, of Christchurch won the championship by gaining the fastest time with J. Southerland second fastest J. Woodford recorded the fastest, time for a local rider, a performance which carried with it a good cash prize and the Victor Nelson Challenge Cup The race, which was well controlled by a competent band of officials of the Green Island Club, resulted as follows:—L McCaughan (Dunedin) £ls and cup, 1; C. Ralston (Dunedin) £5, 2; J McCartney (Dunedin), £3 3: J Woodford (Dunedin), £2 4- A Woodford (Dunedin). £l, 5; W Sasse (Dunedin) £l. 6; D. Morland (Christchurch) El. 7; J Southerland (Christchurch) £l. 8; B A. Evans (Chris'church) £1 9: O. Gardiner Christchurch) £l. 10. Fastest Time: £B, Championship Sash and Challenge Cup—D A. Morland (Christchurch) I £3 J Southerland, 2 Otago rider gaining fastest time, £4, and Victor Nelson Cup—J Woodford, I: £2. A Woodford 2. The Victor Nelson Cup and the Scott Cup for most poin's for the season went to W Whiston and R. Wilson Pyne respectively The O'Brien Cup went to W. Whiston
