Basketball Competition In the Basketball Knock-out Competition, played on the High School courts on Saturday, High School A won the A Grade Cup and Clinton B the B Grade Pipe Band Function In the Band Hall on Friday night the local Pipe Band Committee entertained at a social the following members, wlio will go into the territorial camp at Forbury Park on September 30:—D. Sutherland. I, Copland, V. Keaeh, lan Bold. ,1. Hunter, R. Byers. and W. Stewart. Mr James Tweedie (president') occupied (lie chair, and there was a good attendance. A programme of toasts and musical items was gone through. It was stated that the men would not return until December 21, and that in the interim the band would be very short-handed. Obituary Mr David Milne, who died at his home in Barr street, Balclutha, on Sunday, at the age of 79 years, was born in Perthshire, Scotland, and came to New Zealand 34 years ago, settling at Stirling, where he farmed, and later at Benhar. There was a family of seven (four sons and three daughters) His wife predeceased him 22 years ago. The four sons all went to the Great War, where one was killed and one wounded. A family of six are left. They are:—Mr David Milne (Stirling), Mr Roy Milne (Dunedin), Mr Alexander Milne (Stirling), Mrs W. Farquhar (Balclutha), Mrs W. Lovie (Balclutha). and Mrs M Tosh (Dunedin).
