No. 13 SCHEME
TO THE EDITOR Sir.—l would like to bring to- your attention a matter which I consider should be the subject of investigation. At Kaitangata a number of men are engaged on the No. 13 scheme where a traction engine is working a gravel grab in the river, but the amount of work done is quite harmless, for 200 yards or so up the banks of the river the supposed workers have their whitebait nets set and one can see these men parading up and down the banks emptying whitebait out of their nets. As a taxpayer I consider that this should be brought before the notice of the responsible Government department. —I am, etc., Wake Up. Kaitangata, Sept. 18. [The above letter has been referred to the National Service Department, which has investigated the matter and is satisfied that there are no grounds for complaint.—Ed.. 0.D.T.l
