SUNDAY CONCERTS AND RADIO
ro THE EDITOR Sir,—l am in agreement with the remarks of your correspondent, “ Respect for God’s Day.” with respect to the Sabbath and think the City Council has done the right’thing in deciding to ban the Sunday concerts. But what of our Sunday broadcasting programmes? Is it not time some protest was made with regard to them? The programme submitted on Sunday by the local commercial station is, I am told, such as should not be allowed by our present Government. I have always been of the opinion that this station should not operate at all on a Sunday, but if it is to continue to do so its programmes should be subjected to a strict censorship. How can we expect God to give us victory while our Government allows the radio to be used on Sunday in the manner indicated and the drink traffic is allowed to continue to debase our young people?—l am, etc., Citizen. Dunedin, Sept. 20.
