KINEMA ENTERTAINMENTS ' MAJESTIC THEATRE It was daring of Ernst Lubitsch to put the screen’s No 1 emotional actress Into a jester’s cap. There was no need tor such a change. The public liked Garbo as she was, but the director’s daring is justified. “ Ninotchka,” showing at the Majestic to-night finally, is brilliant comedy. Greta Garbo is a suave comedian. As Commissar Ninotchka, sent to Paris to bring three errant comrades to heel, she presents what Is almost a caricature of her former screen self She proves her ability as a comedienne The brilliance of the production, however, cannot be credited entirely to the players. It is a director’s triumph Lubitsch has, cleverly, not taken away the old Garbo. He has kept for her that suggestion of the unbending woman, that Garbo reserve, and he has retained for her wmc tender, emotional moments.
