ST. CLAIR CARNIVAL
The St. Clair carnival will be officially opened to-night at 7.45 by the Mayor (Mr A. H. Allen), and every effort has been made by the committee of the St. Clair Improvement Association to make this carnival worthy of Centennial Week. The breakers will be illuminated by powerful floodlights, and the public will be afforded the opportunity of witnessing, at night, canoe events and demonstrations by members of the Life-saving Club. The Esplanade and the carnival itself will be amply illuminated with coloured lights. There will also be popular amusement devices, such as the Feris wheel and chairoplane, and there will be plenty of games for those wishing to try their skill. Refreshments and drink stalls will be in evidence, so that everyone's tastes will be catered for. Prizes will be awarded for the three best fancy costumes to-night. This carnival is worthy of generous support by the public of Dunedin, as the proceeds are devoted to improving the amenities of the beach at St. Clair.
