FORECAST FOR OTAGO SCATTERED RAIN DEVELOPING The' following special weather forecast for Otago, covering the ensuing 24 hours, was Issued by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, at 5 p.m. yesterday;— Strong north-west to west winds, but a change to south-west possible during the day. Weather becoming unsettled, with scattered rain developing from the west and south. Temperatures becoming cooler. Seas moderate. DOMINION FORECAST TEMPERATURES BECOMING COOLER The following Is the official forecast for the Dominion;— An anti-cyclone Is centred to the northeast of New Zealand and an active depression is advancing across the south Tasman Sea. Indications are for:— Winds.—Northerly to north-westerlv predominating, moderate in the north but fresh to strong from Taranaki southwards and reaching gale force about Cook Strait. A change to west or south-west is probable in the south to-morrow. Seas.—New Zealand waters: Rough about Cook Strait and south of Cape Egmont, elsewhere slight or moderate but rising later in Foveaux Strait. Eastern Tasman Sea: Gradually freshening northerly winds and slight to moderate seas in the northern portion; strong winds to gales from a westerly quarter and rough seas in the southern portion. Weather.—Unsettled in western and far'southern areas of the South Island with occasional rain, but elsewhere continuing fair to fine; temperatures mild to warm but becoming cooler In' the south.
WEATHER IN DUNEDIH The weather in Dunedin yesterday was overcast but fine. There was a fresh north-easterly breeze and the maximum temperature was 67 degrees. The barometer fell sharply during the day and the reading at midnight, when a slight recovery was Indicated, was 29.45 Inches (997 millibars).
