OBITUARY

MR DOUGLAS PIELOU. (Press Association— By Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, January 9. (Received Jan. 10, at 7.20 p.m.) The death is announced of Douglas Pielou, Conservative member of the House of Commons for Stourbridge.—A. and N.Z. Cable. Mr Pielou has represented the Stourbridge division since 1922. He went to the war with the Cameron Highlanders, and was severely wounded at the Battle of Loos. He was a governor of Birmingham University, and served on many public and patriotic bodies. He was only 39 at the time of his death. HOUSTON STUART CHAMBERLAIN. BERLIN, January 10. (Received Jan. 10, at 10.30 p.m.) The death is announced of Houston Stuart Chamberlian. Houston Stuart Chamberlain is chiefly remembered for his better hostility to his native England during the war and for his touching faith in the destiny of Germany.
