(Received May 7, at 7.10 p.m.) A communique from Morocco states that a French centre column cleared Tayunat heights after fierce resistanca The enemy, consisting of regulars, was assisted by local tribesmen. Le Temps telegrams from Fez say that the French lost four officers and 44 men killed and 150 wounded. The Puffs casualties were 10 times that number.— Reuter.
FRANCES DIFFICULTIES. RIFFS WELL EQUIPPED. PARIS, May 6. (Received May 7, at 7.10 p.m.) French correspondents in Morocco admit that France is faced with many difficulties. It is estimated that Abdel Krim has 5000 regulars and 1500 volunteers. The Biffs are well supplied with wireless, aeroplanes, and artillery. The latter’s shooting is so good that the French are wondering whether the gunners are Arabs. —A. and N.Z. Cable.
