We have to advise the arrival of the third cargo of cattle (80 head) from Gipps land,, per Free Trader. This vessel loan about 12 per cent, of the number shipped. The remainder landed in very IT fair condition, which we will sell oa Monday, 22nd JL insfc. We have received from Gipps Land, up to the out present time, 210 head of cattle, and we do not ex.- Ojh pect much increase in this branch of the trade, so var long as shippei'3 are obliged to pay the present high Sc rate of freignt. Horses.— The market this week, in the opinion of many who have taken their data from the knowledge > y ot so many horses being afloat and bound for this j is port, both from Victoria and Tasmania, "would exhibit j ', an unusual dulness, and that prices must recede, in i, fact, the supply would be greater than the demand; -\ on the contrary, we have to report an. unusual j d activity and firmness, arising, alone from the great j demand from the up-country and mining districts, q As stated in our last report, prices depend entirely j upon the description and condition of stock offered, rj n and for that class suiting the requirements of the market, we think that the current rates -will rule • quite as high for some time to come. During the y t week we have disposed of a great number of horses 1> for our usual customers, and 375 consigned to us by the following vessels :—Ex Nor'-wester, Omeo ? Eliza >n Goddard, Mariposa, and Derwent Hunter, were freely id sold at satisfactory prices, the week closing with firmness, animation, and good demand.
