PROCLAMATION
OF THE DUNSTAN GOLD FIELD AND the Nokomai Gold Field. By His Honor John Larkins Cheese Richardson, Esq-, Superintendent of the Province of Otago. Whereas by an Act of the General Assembly of New • Zealand, intituled "The Gold Fields Act, 1858," it is enacted that it .shall be lawful for the Governor from time to time, by Proclamation, to constitute and appoint any portion of the Colony to be a Gold Field under the provisions of the said. Act, and the limits of such Gold Field from time to time to alter as occasion may require. And whereas! by the said Act it isj)rovided that it shall j be lawful for the Governor in Council, under his hand and the public seal of the Colony, from time to time to delegate to tlie Superintendent of any Province, or to such other ■, person as the Governor may deem fit, all or any of the powers vested in the Governor,brthe Governor in Counc^/,^y the said Act, except the powers conferred by Sections seven, eight, twentyieven, and forty thereof, subject; or not subject to any limitation oi as he may think fit. And whereas by virtue of fa Commission bearing date the eighth day of June in the year of our LoroTone thousand eight hundred and sixty-one, pven under the hand of His:; Excellency JJomas Gore Browne, at the Government House at Auckland, and under/the Public Seal of the Colony, His Excellency Thomas Gore 3rowne, the Governor as aforesaid qfcthe said .Colony, with»:the advice and consent of the Executive Council tb^eofj and in exercise of ipower and authority for that purpose^ in^ him" vested, did delegate absolutely and without restriction, unto me, John Larkins Cheese Bachardson, Esquire, as Superintendent of the; Province of v Otago, all the^ tiowers vested in him under or by virtue of Ac Gold; Fields" Act, 1858," .except the powers, contained in^^ Sections seven, eight, Mteen, tiyenty-seven^ and forty of the said Act, to have, hold, and exercise within the Provmce of Otagb, the said powers by the said Commission given; ;^ .'•; X.Wowrffierefbre, I, Johi Laridiw Cheese' Kichardson, Superintendent as aforesaid of the Province of Otago, do hereby, in pursuance of the_ said.^powex and authority ] constitute and apjKiint all that territory first hereinafter^described to be; a Gold Fieldundertne provisions rbf the^ said Act and to be called J ?*"•-? ;

Xarkbis JDheese Richai*dson, .Superintendent;;^- aforesaid, do hereby, in jfiirther pursuance of the said: power and authority, also * constitute and appoint all. that, other territoryhereinafter described, to be a Gold-Field; under the .provisions of the said Act^ and' to be called- - NOKOMAI GOLD FIELD Contains all that area bounded on the North by .the Kawarau River, on the East by the watershed "of the Canick, Ilocky Mount, Steeple, and East Dome Ranges, thence West to'the Mataura; on the South by the Matauraj . and on the West by the watershed of the Slate, Nevis, and Double Cone Ranges to the Kawarau. And I declare that this Proclamation shall come into, operation and take effect upon and after the date hereof.
