WAIMATE HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.
ANNUAL SHOW. (From Our Own' Correspondent.) The above show was held in the Drill Shed on Thursday afternoon and evening. The weather was beautiful and the show was a pronounced success, both as regards entries and showing and attendance. During the evening hi 6 Worship the Mayor addies6ed those present, and congratulated the Society on the excellent show, and reviewed the efforts of the Society since its inauguration, emphasising the rapid growth made during late years. Sir W. 3". Steward also made a short complimentary speech and wished the Society every success. Appended' is a list of the awards: — VEGETABLES.

Special prizes and cups for most points in the various classes were awarded as follows : Mrs Manchester's rose bowl for most ixiints in cut flowers was won by J. Wallace, with Miss Rattray second. Mr W. H. Hargreaves won Mr \Val7 ker's special prize for most points in fruit. , . , . Mr R. Nicol's cum for most points n vegetables and Yeat and Co.'s and Mr Walker's special prizes were all won by E. A. Veitch. . Mr S. J. Adams' cup for most points in Class B was taken by W. Lee. Mr E. Hassall won Mr N. Francis special for collection of cut flowers shown m vases. _, . •In Gardeners' Class A., the cup presented by Messrs Hargreaves, Hassall, and' M'Gowan went to "Mrs J. Manchester, whose winnings totalled 98 points, Mr A S. Ehvorthy coming a good second. The same lady also won the cup presented by Mrs R. G. Baxter .and Messrs Lee and JXicol.
