If this rule i.s strictly applied it will the early retirement from the service of the following:—.Messrs T. Humphries (SurveyorGeneral), C. W. llursthouse (Chief I'aiSlineeV of. the Roads Department), Colonel Hume (Inspector of Prisons), A. J. Willis (Secretary to the Cabinet), A. Barron (Chairman of the band Purchase. Board), •). M. Roberts (S«M. at Tiiuranga), and Captain Wra.v (S.M. uv Timaru). it is expected that either Mr John Stauchon (Commissioner of Crown Lands for Auckland) or Mr K. ('. GoldSmilh (Commissioner of Crown Lauds for Canterbury) will succeed Mr Humphries as Surveyor-General.
