A Cabinet ininiite lias <j;one lorward to tlie heads of the Public Service Department that all officers over 05 years of aye are to he retired in accordance with the provisions ol the Superannuation Act. If this rule i.s strictly applied it will the early retirement from the service of the following:—.Messrs T. Humphries (SurveyorGeneral), C. W. llursthouse (Chief I'aiSlineeV of. the Roads Department), Colonel Hume (Inspector of Prisons), A. J. Willis (Secretary to the Cabinet), A. Barron (Chairman of the band Purchase. Board), •). M. Roberts (S«M. at Tiiuranga), and Captain Wra.v (S.M. uv Timaru). it is expected that either Mr John Stauchon (Commissioner of Crown Lands for Auckland) or Mr K. ('. GoldSmilh (Commissioner of Crown Lauds for Canterbury) will succeed Mr Humphries as Surveyor-General.
