HONORING THK LATK JIH LINDSAY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) IJunediu, January 28. At this morning's meeting ol' the Otnj*o Education Hoard the Chairman (the Hon. T. Kerens) made fooling reference to the loss tin 4 Board and til'' teaching profession had sustained in the death of the late headmaster of the Oamaru North School (Mr J. Lindsay). Mis death, Mr Fergus said, was very sudden, and the least the Hoard could do for one who had served fheiu laithfullv for 30 .years was to express their sorrow and to convey to deceased's relatives their sincere regret, lie moved a motion to that eflect. Mr Mitchell seconded. lie had known deceased for many years. Mhe late jlr Lindsay had always taken the keenest interest in his pupils, not only in their school years, hut in their older years also. The profession had sustained a severe loss in his death, as had also his many friends who knew his personal qualities. Mr W. Scott, an old pupil of the deceased, paid his tribute of respect. The motion was carried, the Board unanimously expressing its approval by silently standing,.
