OAMARU CRICKET CLUB.
The members of this Club held their annual' meeting on Saturday evening. The chair was filled by the Vice-President (Mr. A. Kerr), and there were about 20 members, present. The balance-sheet for the past year was read and adopted. |t showed that the Clup \V? ( 3 a,'very satisfactory condition, : Thp following report of the outgoing Compiittee was adopted ; <( Qn this fourteenth oeoasion of holding tho annual meeting of the Oamaru Cricket Club, the Committee think they may fairly congratulate the members on the present position of the Club both as to its finance and as to its being in possession of a valuable piece of ground that way now comparatively be considered to be in good ftrcler, a?jd will not require so largo an expenditure.upon it as it has hitherto done. "It, will be seen by the statement of the Club's assets, &e., that it is now nearly out of debt. " During the past season, the Cl u h played only eight matches, four of which were. won, the remainder being lost. It is hoped tfcat as the ground this year will admit of praotioe earlier than last season, a better result will be obtained, more particularly as several promising members of the Excelsior Club have become, and I more are likely to become, members, of this Club also. " The friendly gardes played between the two Clubs have fostered a spirit of emulation that doubtless lias had a beneficial effect on the cricket of both, "The Committee reeoiiiniend that an effort be to obtain funds towards the establishment of a sinking fund account, to he set apart for the pqrpoae of purchasing the ground, The members will be pleased to hear that a valid, deed as to the tenure and purchase of the ground has been executed, and the thanks of the Club are due to Mr. Balmer for his gratuitous services in this matter." The election of office-bearers took place, with the following results :—President, Mr. J. Allan ; Vice-President, Mr. A. [ Kerr; Hon. Secretary, Mr. J. . Walls ; Hon. Treasurer, Mr. G. S. Lintott; Committee, Messrs. G. Millington, Newton, Sumpter, de Lautour, Borton, Rice, and Macdonald. The usual compliment having , been acoorded to the Chairman, the meeting terminated.
