(PER press association.) DUNEDIN. June 14. Inquiry shows that the Ashburton affair was greatly exaggerated. One volunteer has been suspended. CHRISTCHUB.CH. June 14. After the s.s. Norfolk, from Plymouth, had been passed by the health officers, and some of the passengers allowed to land, three cases of small-pox were discovered on board. Prompt measures were instantly taken, and yesterday the vessel was ordered into quarantine. At a meeting of the Anglers Society on Saturday night, it was resolved to take steps to search the Waimakiriri and tributaries for salmon trout. It was also resolved to endeavor to get clause 52 of the new Fisheries Bill expunged, and the provisions of the Salmon and Trout Act, 1867, included in the Bill, AUCKLAND. June 12, Two boys named Foreman and Brown were charged at the Police Court this morning with misappropriating five LI notes. It appears that they picked them up on the floor of the Thames Hotel and divided the amount.
